Family History Day at Storrington Museum

The popular Family History Day will be held at Storrington Museum on Sunday 17th October. Visitors will be able to get advice on researching their family tree, we will have a help desk for research queries and Sussex Family History Group databases and publications. Admission is £2, children under 11 free.

We are also making a plea for memories from World War Two and hope to record for posterity what life was like then.

On Saturday 9th October the winter programme begins with our new exhibition, looking at Methodism, its development over 50 years in Storrington and its wider influences and impact.

This is followed on Monday 11th October by a very interesting and emotive talk entitled “Dorothy in the Workhouse 1905-1926” when the speaker, Judith Kinnison Bourke, enacts the role of a girl in the workhouse from the girl’s diary.

Later in the month, on Saturday 23rd October, we are holding another of our popular quiz evenings, quiz master Stephen Turrell, at 7.30pm and participants can join a table or make up a table of 6. Tickets £8 to include supper.

All museum talks take place on the second Monday in the month commencing at 7.30pm. For more information about events at the museum, call 01903 740188, visit the website - www.storringtonmuseum.org or find us on Facebook.
