Horsham District Council Health Walks.

Health WalkAll welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point (if you are new to our scheme please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for registration). Programme booklet containing over 250 walks is available by contacting the Walks Co-ordinator on 01403 215269 or by downloading from the website (enter Horsham DC Walks on a search site, e.g. Google). Beginners are recommended to contact the Walk Leader to discuss suitability. Forthcoming walks in the Storrington & Sullington Parish are as follows:

Saturday, 5th June,
2.00 pm: Lee farm, 4 ½ mile circular walk into the heart of the rolling downs up above Storrington. Meet at Kithurst Hill car park (off the Amberley to Storrington road). Dogs allowed on a lead. 2 hours. Leader Mick 01903

Wednesday, 9th June
, 7.00 pm: The Crown, Cootham, 6 to 7 mile circular walk for the more experienced walkers who crave the excitement and satisfaction of covering this distance at pace over difficult terrain. A history of socialising has developed after the walk, strong boots and a sense of humour required. Meet in the pub car park (TQ 074145). No dogs. 2½ hours. Leader Geoffrey 01903 744881

Saturday, 12th June
, 8.30 am: Washington and Findon Valley. 6 ½ mile circular walk, some hills, exploring bridleways around Chanctonbury and Findon Park. Meet at the Washington South Downs Way car park (Grid Ref. TQ120119). Dogs allowed on a lead. 2¾ hours. Leader Mick 01903 745971

, 2.00 pm: Harrow Hill, 6 ½ mile downland circular walk, some hills, stunning views. Meet at Kithurst Hill car park (off the Amberley to Storrington road, TQ 070125). Dogs allowed on a lead. 3 hours. Leader Mick 01903 745971

Sunday, 20th June
, 10.00 am: Hurston Place. 4¾ mile, easy going, circular walk towards West Chiltington Common and through WS Golf Course. Start at Glebe Surgery car park, Monastery Lane, Storrington. Dogs allowed on a lead. Leader Mick 01903 745971

Thursday, 24th June
, 6.45 pm: The Countryman Inn, Shipley, all welcome.


4th ANNUAL MID-SUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM WALK & BBQ & MUSIC.


A shortened version (four miles, two hours) of our usual flat circular walk (5 stiles) through farmland, Shipley village and Knepp Park where we hope to see Fallow Deer, Tamworth Pigs, Exmoor Ponies and Old English Longhorn Cattle followed by a pub BBQ at £10 per head as the last 3 years with The Southdown Ramblers band live in the pub garden. , 10.00 am: Fryern Park, 3 mile circular walk along the quiet roads and footpaths to the north of Storrington, unknown to many people, giving stunning views of Storrington and the South Downs. , 10.00 am: Meet at West Chiltington Village Hall, 5 mile, mostly flat (some stiles), circular walk around the village, may see a church or two and pass through nursery land, with some interesting views. 2 ½ hours. Leader Irene 01403 783637
