Local Mother and Daughter support Marie Curie Nurses

East Grinstead mother and daughter Verna and Sarah Wilson are travelling to Richmond on 21 August to raise funds for local Nurses.

Walk Ten Richmond is one of a series of unique twilight 10k walks, taking place at stunning locations around the UK this summer – and offers a unique chance to enjoy Richmond Park in the evening when it is usually closed to the public.

This is a special opportunity to explore the park and its historic surroundings, starting at Roehampton Gate at twilight with family and friends and finishing at 10pm at which time you can bring along your picnic blanket and settle down to enjoy the entertainment.

Mrs Wilson said ‘My daughter and I are really looking forward to taking part in the first Walk Ten, it will be a great challenge and we are really looking forward to the entertainment afterwards!  It is also great to know that we will be supporting Marie Curie Nurses in Sussex.’

Community Fundraiser Ben Feely said, “Marie Curie Nurses are amazing- they often work through the night providing expert care and support to people with cancer and other terminal illnesses – completely free of charge. And by taking part in your local Walk Ten you can really do your bit to help care for even more people in Sussex.”

Ben went on to say, “It is incredibly poignant that whilst the walk finishes at 10pm, another Marie Curie Nurse will be arriving at the home of a patient, thanks to people like Verna and Sarah Wilson.”

Registration cost £10 (children go free) but everyone is asked to commit to raise as much as possible- £100 pays for five hours of nursing care, and £180 pays for a full night’s shift in a patient’s home.
