‘Allo,’Allo

Listen verry carefully, I shall say zis only once – Storrington Dramatic Society will be presenting ‘Allo, ‘Allo at Sullington Parish Hall from 1st to 4th June at 7.45pm daily.

Rene Artois invites you to his “humble café”, where his wife Edith will (unfortunately) be performing her cabaret, and waitresses Yvette and Mimi will be on hand to sabotage the Germans’ attempts to find both the British Airmen and the painting of the Fallen Madonna.

A large cast, led by Matt Newton as Rene, will be enjoying themselves as the characters made famous in the popular TV series upon which this very funny comedy by original writers, Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, is based.

Just remember to plug your ears with cheese as Edith (Susan Nicel) murders the songs, and then try to spot Michelle of the Resistance (Christine Tobitt) and Monsieur Leclerc (Dennis Back) in their many impenetrable disguises!

Sophie Linfield, having perfected her German accent in SDS’s recent Frankenstein – the Panto, now brings a touch of glamour to the part of Helga, while her fiancé Graeme Jenkins (last seen as the Dame!) goosesteps convincingly as Herr Flick.

David Chinn appears as the linguistically-challenged “gendarme”, Crabtree, with Michael Smith, Michael Chapple and Roy Stevens as the bemused German officers. Geoff Goble, as Italian Bertorelli, tries to charm Resistance girls Rosemary Smith and Tempeste Bridger, but is no match for sassy waitresses, Amanda Hislop and Angela Chapple. Mike Russell, Mike Hayes and Chris Linfield play all the other parts!

Director Sue Goble promises that everything is in place for an authentic trip to wartime France – Good Moaning!

Tickets, priced at £7, will be on sale from mid May at Fowlers Estate Agents, The Square, Storrington, or can be ordered by telephone from SDS Chairman, Mike Russell on 01798 875591.
