‘I Leave My Mark’ team raise money for Winstons Wish

Winstons WishA group of inspiring individuals met last night to celebrate raising over £2000 since Boxing Day for Winstons Wish and their work with bereaved children in Sussex. The ‘I leave my mark’ team aim to raise £5000 by the end of February for the charity, and will continue to fundraise for local charities supporting children who have suffered a traumatic event.

“We are inviting schools, local businesses, families, friends and social groups to get involved in creating one of the worlds largest collections of fingerprints to raise money to support the future happiness of our community’s children”, say Debbie Brown. The collection will be displayed at the end of the Fringe Festival in May as a direct representation of our commitment as a community to the future of our children.

Sally Davies of Winston’s Wish comments, “ When we heard about this unique fundraising idea we were very excited and couldn’t wait to see the results. The passion and enthusiasm that Debbie has put into the event on Boxing Day is truly wonderful, to raise so much money for the bereaved children we help at Winston’s Wish in this way is a remarkable achievement for which we are very grateful”.

Debbie say’s “I am amazed at what we have achieved as a team in such a short space of time and with no money changing hands, every penny donated has gone directly to Winston’s Wish. The support we have received from local businesses and individuals especially at such a challenging time economically is inspiring. It touches me how much support there is in the community to give children who have had something happen to them the best chance in life”.

“A special acknowledgement to our key local sponsors Jon Silver Photography, Segment SEO, Exhibit Printing, Designers-i, Fat Flyers and Brighton Media Centre for donating your time, passion and skills. Also to Les and Jacqui for donating their beach hut, to all the incredible volunteers, and to my dear friend Peter Lynch for his work on the project, and his three beautiful daughters who lost their mum, Sophie, earlier this year”.

If you didn’t get a chance to leave your mark on Boxing Day, you can show your support through the ‘Leave your Mark on a Heart’ initiative for January, volunteer or donate on line. For more information visit www.ileavemymark.co.uk
