Premier League Champions host Ashington Cougars
Ashington Cougars enjoyed a footballing treat over the festive period as over 60 boys (and girls) from the club spent a day at Chelsea Football Club’s world famous training ground in Cobham, Surrey.
The players were put through the paces by the club’s award winning Chelsea Foundation Coaches and spent the morning working on tactics and skills to help develop their game. The afternoon was spent playing a mini tournament with medals presented to 15 of the players before finishing off with a penalty shootout.
“It was an amazing day and the coaches were great. To play at Chelsea in the same ground as players such as John Terry and Frank Lampard is amazing and we all learned such a lot not just about football but how to warm up properly and what to eat before a game” said Joe Brooker, winner of the penalty shootout.
Chelsea Foundations coaches will visit Ashington Cougars FC on the 20 and 21st April to run a soccer school open to both club players and young players from the local community. For further information and a chance to win a free place visit www.ashingtoncougarsfc.co.uk/chelsea.html
