Remember, Remember the 5th of November
The Reception and Year 1 children of Storrington First School will certainly remember this 5th of November.
The day started with children learning about Guy Fawkes and the importance of safety near fireworks.
What they didn’t know was their teachers had arranged to have a real bonfire and real fireworks on the school field that morning.
Jude Randall Foundation Stage Leader commented” It is vital that children learn from first hand experiences and so important that children of this age understand that fire and fireworks can be great fun but they are dangerous and you have to follow the firework code.
“The children had a wonderful time. Tom 5 said” We learnt how to be safe and to stand back. The bonfire was smoky. It was super. I liked it when the fireworks went off, it was really exciting.
To add to the excitement the Storrington Fire Fighter's had been invited to the school to further highlight the importance of safety near fireworks.
Jacob 4 said “I liked driving the fire engine and it was funny when the fireman put his hose on and the wind blew water all over him. It has been brilliant”.
