Storrington Area Help Scheme

Storrington Area Help SchemeFancy becoming a ‘Small’ part of the ‘Big Society’? Then why not give up an hour or so to help take elderly people to their Doctor’s Surgery or to hospital, by becoming a Volunteer Driver with our local Help Scheme.

The Scheme was established in 1973 and has served the local community ever since, giving help to residents of Storrington, Thakeham, West Chiltington, Ashington and Washington.

In 2010 we received 1,420 requests for help and numbers are growing year by year as our older people are living longer.

The beauty of the Scheme is that volunteers only have to accept a ‘job’ when it is convenient to them. There is no commitment to set days or hours; just something you can do when it suits you.

Several of our long serving drivers are reaching the age when they wish to retire from the Scheme and we need to replace them. So why not give us a ring to find out more about the very valuable local voluntary service.

We would love to hear from you, so just pick up the phone and speak to Sarah Smith (01903 743834) or Ian Dyke (01903 743279). They will be only too pleased to give you more information and answer any queries you may have.
