Storrington First School

It’s been an exciting summer term at Storrington First School.

Friends of Storrington School ran two very successful events which between them will have raised over £6,000, money raised will go towards the school’s swimming pool and increasing the ICT provision for children in the school. The school also took part in Odyssey, a charity event held at Windlesham School, where pupils sang and danced to a song written by class teacher Mrs Hayley Trott and read poems they had written.

The school was delighted to learn that they had been awarded Artsmark Gold, a National recognition for delivery of the Arts in Education. The award is a significant achievement for the school and fully supports the core values of developing confident and creative children.

As the end of term approaches work is ready to begin on a new community and curriculum classroom. This exciting project has been made possible through corporate support and sponsorship from Storrington firms Waitrose and Paula Rosa. Parents and pupils at the school have also been busy with sponsored events and have raised over £1,200 towards the project.

There is just a little more fundraising to be done to cover equipping the unit and it is hoped it will be ready to get cooking early in the Autumn Term. The kitchen, which links with the successful family allotments at the school, will be used for pupils, family learning and it is hoped by the wider community. For more information about this new facility please contact the school.

Sums up Head Teacher, Garry Smart “It has been an incredibly busy and exciting summer term. Our pupils and staff at the school have achieved so much they should all be very proud of themselves.

Thanks must also go parents and carers who have volunteered and supported events over the school year.

I now wish everyone the relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday they deserve!”
