Storrington Horticultural Society

It is thought that Storrington Horticultural Society may be one of the longest running horticultural societies in the country and definitely in the county. The West Sussex Gazette printed details of a show in September 1864, and details of another show in 1873 exist. The society then seems to have lapsed but restarted in 1905 and has been running ever since.

The present society is very active with a large membership who attend regular monthly meetings to listen to speakers on wide ranging gardening and gardening relates subjects. There are also Spring and Summer shows, garden visits and holidays.

Our latest venture is to hold a Celebrity Evening on Saturday 19th June, when the well known radio and television gardener, Pippa Greenwood, will give a talk entitled “Grow It” in the Malden Family Theatre of Windlesham House School.

Further details and tickets can be obtained from Marion (741342) or Pat (742853).
