Storrington Kingsfield Club joins Age Concern in Horsham District
Age Concern Horsham District is now responsible for running the established Kingsfield Club, operating two days a week for older people with dementia and memory problems within Storrington and Sullington and the surrounding areas.
West Sussex County Council currently supports the project with grant aid from West Sussex Adults & Children Services (Carers Grant). The club meets from10am to 3.0pm on Tuesdays and Fridays in the residents’ social room at the Saxon Weald Kingsfield Sheltered Housing complex.
Members pay a daily package rate of £7 that includes refreshments, lunch and activities. Former Kingsfield Club Chairman, Pam Brown, said, “Due to the complex demands of current legislation our board felt that the time was right to ask Age Concern to take on this important and valued local service.”
Vivien Lyth, Chairman, Age Concern Horsham District, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Kingsfield Club into the Age Concern family. Having worked in partnership with Cognitive Help and Therapy (CHAT), the early dementia charity within the Horsham District, we are very aware of the growing need to support and provide respite to the carers of those who show symptoms of this problematic condition.
We are delighted that Pam and other members of the management committee have agreed to assist us with the future running of the club.”
