Storrington Museum
A day of fun will mark the reopening of Storrington Museum on Sunday, May 9.
The celebrations are on from 11am onwards, when visitors will be able to glimpse a time when Storrington and its surrounding communities were largely dependant on working the land.
The Wealden Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will have a display in the main hall, you can see corn dollies being made, and there will be a variety of other exhibits including the Weald and Downland Museum, and Amberley Working Museum.
There will also be interactive fun for children.
A historic quiz trail from the Duck Race will lead families to the venue in the Old School, School Lane, which has been given a full refurbishment.
Chair of the Storrington and District Museum Society Meg Everitt said: “The permanent exhibition is being completely refurbished with new cases and lighting, and there will be a temporary exhibition on “Storrington’s Lost World”.
“The layout has been completely modernised, without losing the original charm of this community facility, but we do want far more community involvement in the Museum and it’s happenings”.
“There will be something for all ages to enjoy, lunches will be served between 12 & 2pm and teas from 3pm, proceeds going to the Museum funds. Toilet facilities will be available all day.
In future opening times will be 10am-4pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and more information is available on the website www.storringtonmuseum.org.
