Storrington Museum

October events start early with the opportunity to go on guided walks around the old mill sites. Meg Everitt has kindly agreed to take the walks on Saturday 1st October and Wednesday 5th October.

On Monday 3rd October we have a talk on Mills and we have been very fortunate to get Mr Peter Hill, Chairman of the Sussex Mills Group to introduce us to this fascinating topic. The talk will start at 7.30pm and be held at the Old School Saturday 8th October brings in our next temporary exhibition when we will be surrounded by toys from before the 1960s. It will be a wonderful opportunity for different generations of one family to get together and reminisce and/or get amazed responses from the children of today who probably know nothing of Roy Rogers and Sooty let alone some of the Victorian toys!

Our Open day is full of sights and activities including collections being shown by expert collectors, train layouts, a children’s entertainer Marky, two puppet shows at 11.30 and 12.30 and a Teddybears picnic at 2.30pm plus other ‘magical ‘ happenings. In fact you could stay all day because as usual we will be serving coffee lunches and teas.

Family History day returns on Saturday 16th October where experts can provide advice about researching your family tree. There is also a help desk for research queries and problems and the Sussex Family Group databases to learn about. Admission is £2 children under 11 free. Refreshments available.

Saturday 22nd October and it is time for our very popular Quiz night with the one and only Stephen Turrell as our quiz master ..... This time it will be held in Storrington Village Hall - 7pm for 7.30pm. Tickets are £9 including fish and chips. Tickets can be obtained from our Programme Secretary 01903 745756
