The next Play Reading for Pleasure will be on Friday15th October at 7:30 in the Village Hall Annexe.

All are welcome, admission is free.

The Rude Mechanicals were back again, performing on Friday 2nd July. Al fresco picnics preceded a very enjoyable evening.

The August Members Evening was on 24th July, early because of the Village Hall reroofing.

A one act play and a meal were the evening’s activity.

A very funny play, “The Hitman” by JCW Brook, was performed and well received by the audience. As the Mafia featured in it, there was an Italian feel to the evening. The Queens Head provided a super meal and our new Honorary Patron, Alexandra Bastedo, was introduced. She gave a presentation about a special fund raising evening in September for her ABC Animal Sanctuary.

Alexandra will be remembered for her performances in “the Champions”, a long running television series. As well as founding the ABC Animal Sanctuary in the Village, she is Patron of a number of other animal welfare groups.

Further information about her animal sanctuary and the Special Evening in September can be found on www.abcanimalsanctuary.co.uk

Those who are “online” can visit our website www.wcds.co.uk “. We also have a facebook site.

Lastly we are delighted to give notice that the play next May will be “Under Milk Wood” by Dylan Thomas. It will be directed by Judith Dredge who also has the privilege of also being Welsh!
